Complimentary Information Session

A free, no commitment, 30-minute information session can help you better understand how utilizing an Independent Educational Consultant can benefit you.  During your free initial consultation, I will present a general overview of the college application process as well as the benefits I can offer to both the student and parents.  This is a great opportunity for you to get to know me but more importantly, for me to get to know you!  Services, plans and fees will also be discussed.

Overview of the College Admissions Process

I will discuss in detail the college application and selection process with the student and their parent.  A thorough review of the student's background, interests and academic records will also be conducted as well as a discussion of what is expected from both the student and the consultant.

High School Planning

I will work with you on selecting the right high school courses to take as well as fine tuning your activities, extracurriculars, employment and summer activities to provide colleges with a clear picture of who you really are.

Resume Preparation

A professional, easy to read resume is a must for todays college applicant.  Many colleges now request that you upload your resume instead of simply listing your activities and honors.  A resume is also extremely important for any applicant who plans on applying for a specialized program or participating in NCAA level athletics.

SAT and ACT Guidance

We will work together in identifying which standardized tests are right for you as well as when to take them. Test prep advice is also available as is guidance regarding the SAT Subject Tests and AP Exams.

College Search and List Preparation

Together, we will work to produce a well researched and realistic college list that fits your needs academically, socially, financially and geographically.  College selectivity will be discussed and factored in to your personalized list.

College Visit Preparation

Assistance on planning your visits, making the right contacts and knowing what to look for when you are touring a campus.

Application and Essay Guidance

Various application formats will be discussed as well as required and supplemental essay topics.  Early Action and Early Decision positives and negatives will we addressed based on your specific situation.  Timetables will be established with appropriate due dates that correlate to your particular applications.  

Interview Preparation

Many schools offer and some still require that applicants sit for an admissions interview. Guidance and mock interviews are available as is information on meeting with college coaches.

Financial Aid Overview

A general overview is available regarding the financial aid process including requirements for completing the FAFSA, CSS Profile and various scholarship applications.

Post Acceptance Advice

Assistance on how to actually pick that "great fit" school after acceptance letters are tendered. Guidance on "wait-list" situations is available as well.  

Athletic Recruiting

Guidance is available for students interested in participating in athletics at the NCAA or club level.
